Abstract:Objective: Based on the panel data related to the resident health from provinces, analyzed the inequality situation and the convergence of regional health in different area in China. Method: Using panel GLS method measured the Beta convergence model of regional health situation, and calculated Theil index to evaluate the inequality situation of health. Result: if unconditional convergence fails. The inequality situation of health caused by the initial difference of it won’t get better over time. If conditional Beta convergence is satisfied, external factors as income, environmental quality, etc will make the path of the regional health situation tend to be convergent. The result from Theil index calculation shows that the inequality situation in the Eastern district expanded then reduced. In the middle and western district, the inequality stays mostly stable with little reduction. The inequality among different districts tends to expand these years. Conclusion: The eastern provinces contributed most to the Theil Index. If we want to reduce the inequality of the residents’ health situation, we have to focus on the eastern districts. Also, we need to further deepen reform in healthcare system, control the medical and health service fee, expand the coverage of the healthcare system, improve the reimbursement of medical expenses.
