Abstract:Village Doctors are the health gatekeeper in rural areas with great social value. Payment and welfare have always been the most concerned by this group. Many policies around the village doctors’ income were launched, but the problems are still prominnent. The financial subsidy from government, the current main source of village doctors’ income, neither can give village doctors stable earning, nor reflect the true social value. Along with the gradual development of village doctor occupation, the attributes and characteristics will be clearer. A more stable payment system is needed to improve position attractiveness and group stability of village doctors. In this manuscript, we analyzed the deficiencies of current income policy, explored the social value of village doctors, and put forward to the design of payment system.
