Abstract:Objective: To explore the associations between alcohol consumption and quality of life in Chinese patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM).Methods:Base on2879 patients with T2DM from Beijing, Guangzhou, Nanjing, Chengdu, Shenyang, analysis the health utility value and the proportion of the problems in five dimensions by descriptive statistics, and explore the influence of different alcohol consumption status on quality of life by Probit Model. Results:After controlling confounding factors, compared with patients who never drink, others had lower probability in the optimal health state and complete health state of pain/discomfort and anxiety/depression dimensions, no matter the patients who is current drinking (occasional drinking and frequent drinking) or drinking in the past (quit drinking); The probability of complete health is higher among those who is current drinking in the mobility, self-care and usual activities dimensions, is lower among those who quit drinking. and the difference was statistically significant. Conclusion: Compared with those who never drink alcohol, drinking patients are less likely to experience problems in the three dimensions of mobility, self-care and usual activities, but are more likely to experience problems in pain/discomfort and anxiety/depression dimensions.
